Online Design- Pre Teen Mood Board

I was enlisted to help update a little girls room for a 13 year old girl. The goal was to create something more mature than the bright pink everything that she currently has going on. Here's what I came up with. I think it is definitely a room that she can grow with.
Pink is still a favorite color, so taking it out completely was not an option, and I'm totally ok with that. I was able to make the space feel more mature by cutting back on and toning down the pink. Adding gold accents will also help the space to feel less little girly and more teenagery (that's a word right?).

The inspiration for this space was this picture that I also shared on Friday. I brought in the pretty pale blue chairs by selecting a similar paint color for the walls.

Big Boy Room Mood Board

I realized I've been slacking on sharing my mood boards with you all, so here is one I did recently for a little guy's first big boy room. The mama didn't want anything too themey (yep, that's a word), and wanted lots of color. Here's what I came up with. +
  
I found these fun prints from this Cinnamon Ink on Etsy. I think they are perfect for a little guy's room.

 The bedding is from West Elm and I used my favorite lamp from Urban Outfitters.

College Style

I mentioned a while ago in this post that my little sister graduated from high school this year. That means that I am officially old. It also means that she is going to need an awesome apartment room when she heads off to school in January. The school she is going to, which is the same one I went to, doesn't have many dorms, so students normally bypass the whole tiny dorm experience and head straight to apartment life. Luckily, all the apartments are furnished. Unluckily, they are furnished in run of the mill boring furniture with stark white walls, so it's important to bring in color through accessories and bedding. Even though she is a big bad college woman now, she's still a teenager, and my little sister, so she doesn't need anything too grown up looking. Here is the colorful college mood board I did for her.

1 and 2. One way to add character and personality to a boring dorm room is to bring in artwork that means   something to you. I found these from this and this Etsy shop. She just needs to get a few white frames and fill them with art or pictures and hang them on the wall.

3. I sort of based the whole design around this pillow. The birds have a young feel without being childish. It also has so many great colors that I can pull from to add some more interest to the room.

5. I normally like white bedding with lots of pillows. However, since the walls are already going to be white and all the furniture will be pretty neutral I thought it was important to add some more color. I love this gray bedding from West Elm.

6. Honestly, she probably wont be forking out the money for a rug, but if she did, this one would be perfect! It adds a great pop of color and anchors the room nicely.

7.  I have never been in a dorm or apartment with good lighting. Since lighting is one of the most important elements of design, I think it is super important to add lamps. This lamp shade goes great with the rug by bringing the green up.

8. The book ends from Pottery Barn Teen are functional while adding some spunk and a little more color.

9. Most apartments frown upon putting too many holes in the walls, but most college girls need a full length mirror. So. I decided on this free standing full length mirror from Pottery Barn Teen.  It gets the job done without adding extra holes in the walls that you later have to fill with toothpaste... not that I ever did that or anything.

10. I love these shelves from Ikea. They are perfect for books, odd and ends, and extra accessories.  And paired with these baskets (11) it's easy to hurry and hide your messes when you have clean checks!

Along with a nicely styled, homey bedroom, she will be needing lots of desk organization and school supplies. Here a few items I found that would work perfectly!

Pillow Talk

Happy Friday everyone! This has been a really long week for some reason so I am super excited for the weekend. We are planning on taking the little guy to the fair. I haven't been to our county fair in years because I always feel dirty after I leave, but I am sucking it up this year for the kiddo so he can see the animals. Wish me luck!

Now for the main purpose of this post. My go to source for fabulous pillows is Etsy. There are so many great shops on there, and many of them are fairly inexpensive. I found a new Etsy shop last night that I am totally loving. It's called Habitation Boheme, and she has so many gorgeous pillows! Here are a few of my faves

Wishing and Dreaming- bedroom mood board

Does anyone else love the bedding from West Elm or is it just me? I think they are all so fun, with a good mix of patterns and solids. my two favorite right now are the Organic Chevron Duvet and the Organic Seersucker Duvet.
Pretty right? While I love the bold chevron pattern on the first one, for my own bedroom I'm more of a solid duvet cover type of girl. That's why I am totally digging that seersucker! It is solid white, which I love, but still adds some texture to the space. Since we moved into our house I have put our bedroom on the back burner, but I can still dream right? Here is a mood board I made for my dream/future bedroom to go along with the Organic Seersucker Duvet. But, I guess it would also work pretty well with the chevron.

Online Design Nursery Mood Board

I did an internship years ago at a design firm specializing in children's and nursery design. I loved it! The possibilities are endless with children's rooms, you can go as wild or as subdued as you want. I love when I get the chance to work on a nursery, here is an online design mood board I recently did for a little girls nursery.

A few side notes: the walls are going to have board and baton 2/3 of the way up and then gray at the top, and the crib bedding will be custom made and all white, I just couldn't find a very good picture of what I wanted online.

Online Design- living room

I love doing design boards! Seriously, I think it's so much fun. Anyway, this is an online design board I did for a formal living room. It all started with this pillow from Etsy and just evolved from there.


I was so happy that I got to put the Wisteria Sunburst Mirror in there. I love this mirror! I would put it in every room of my house if that wasn't weird, or way out of my budget. Here's what I came up with for her living room.

TV house Tuesday- Up all Night

Up all Night is one of those shows that's funny because a lot of it is relatable, and Mya Rudolph is hilarious! So basically on the show, Ava is a talk show host and Reagan is her executive producer. And Reagan and her husband have a baby girl. So there you have it, a brief run down of the show.

The houses on the set are nice, but what I really like is Ragen and Ava's offices. Having a fun office like that to go to would make going to work so much easier. These first few are from Ragens' office. That accent wall is so fun!


And here is her desk, definitely not the typical desk you would see at the office. It's gorgeous, I love that color!


And here is Ava's office, I love how soft and girly it is. And while we're at it, check out Ava's fab red shoes! Holy cow!

Living Room Mood Board

I'm starting to get really excited for our house to close so I can finally have my own home to do whatever I want with! It is going to be slow process because I will be doing everything on a very small budget, buying a house is not a cheap thing people. Regardless of my budget I made a mood board for my living room. I want it to be light with mainly white, gray, blue, and a little yellow. I would love to have a deep blue accent wall. I have helped my parents paint a couple rooms in their house, but other than that I am a painting novice, so I am open to any tips you have for me.

I fell in love with that gray table from Ikea. I'm pretty sure I need it.

TV House Tuesday- Grayson Manor

One of my guilty pleasures is most definitely Revenge, except I don't feel guilty about it, so I guess it's just a pleasure. But anyway, this show is so good! Seriously, you should watch it, unless you don't like slightly dark shows about extrememly weatlthy people doing really bad things to eachother. If that's the case, then maybe don't watch it...

Grayson Manor is the home of Victoria Grayson in the Hamptons and it is out of this world gorgeous! I'm pretty sure the exterior of the home is not real, but i'm not sure about the interior
Here is the view of the exterior. It is huge and has a gorgrous yard. Oh the life of the rich and famous.
This is a view of the kitchen. One of the things I love about this house is all the white. You can tell it is uber expensive, but it doesn't feel overdone or stuffy. And you can't really tell in the picture, but the backplash is really cool. And those lights, love them!
Another feature I love is the dark wood accents and all the molding. You don't see much art on the walls but the walls definitely don't feel incomplete.
The living is room done in neutrals, but again, it's not boring at all and doesn't feel stuffy. And I love the transom windows over the opening to the room.

And this is one of the many guests rooms. I just really like the headboard.

Another mood, another board

Happy Wednesday! And happy 2nd day of spring. My little guy wore pink shorts yesterday in honor of the season change. They looked too dang cute on him, and dad even approved, so you know he looked adorable! Today I want to share this design board I did for a small den. I was going for a soft and feminine feel. I don't know why but I fell in love with that owl book end and had to throw it in. How fun is that!? I need one.

Family room design

A friend of mine has gotten sick of her family room and asked me to help her revamp it a little. She likes the rustic contemorary look, which isn't what I usually lean towards, so it was fun to sort of do something different. Below is the design board I did to get her started.

She already had a coffee table and a couple arm chairs that work great so I had a pretty good starting off point. She wanted a lot of neutrals in the space so to keep it from being boring I added some color through pillows and accessories.

Baby Cakes

I cannot wait to finally be able to decorate my little boy's nursery. Poor little guy's crib has been shoved in the corner of our bedroom his nine long months of life. I found some blue argyle fabric a while ago that I fell in love with and had to have it for his crib. I then went to work, with the help of my mom, and made his crib bedding. Sorry for the aweful cell phone picture, the colors look a little funky. I plan on switching out the brown ties on the bumper for orange and adding some more splashes of orange to his nursery.
