Busy Weekend

I had every intention of finishing my board and batten project in the dining room over the weekend. Husband and I even went to Home Depot on Friday night to pick up some MDF, but the little guy was having none of it, so we went home empty handed. So instead I spent pretty much all day Saturday making a cake for a first birthday party. I thought I could get the cake done in the morning and then finish up the wall in the afternoon. But of course, there were a few mishaps, so it took much longer than expected, and required a few too many trips to the store. Hopefully this week I will have a finished wall to show you. In the meantime, here's the cake that took over my Saturday. Luckily, it all turned out ok.

A Mustache Bash!

My little Beck turned one a couple weeks ago and Friday was his big party. I still can't believe my little monkey is already a year, he's growing up too fast and he is now an official walker!  stop growing baby! We had a blast at the party. Beck and all the little kiddos loved swimming! I swear that kid is going to have a pool party for all of his birthday's, it's so easy and requires very little entertainment on my part. My fabulous sister took some pictures for me and she did an awesome job. I forgot to have her get a picture of the food table when it was completely set up, but here are a few bits and pieces of it.

Graduation cake

My little sister graduated from high school last week. What!? How old am I? I remember when that little tyke was born, and now she's all graduated and headed off to college. Such a proud moment :). Even though I am not ok with her graduating, becuase in my mind she is still 5, I agreed to make a cake for her graduation party. And by agreed, I mean I volunteered so I wouldn't have to get her a real present. Haha just jokes, maybe I'll blow up a picture of myself and frame it all fancy so she never forgets me!
