The Stockings Were Hung

I started stockings for my little family before Christmas last year. I gave it a valiant effort, but let's just say I am a less than perfect seamstress, and by that I mean I'm terrible. Just when I thought I had finished the last one, I realized that I had done some embarrassingly bad measuring and it was about 5 inches longer than the other two. I'm still trying to figure out how that happened. I thought about keeping it that way and using it for myself, after all I made them, so I should get the biggest stocking right?! Instead I decided to do the responsible thing and fix it. But I was so frustrated that I put them away, and of course it took me the entire year to fix it. But a couple days ago I got them back out and got them done! They are far from perfect, but I just say they are full of character :) These are the stockings that I used as inspiration.
burlap stockings this year? Love!

And here is my version.

  1. Your stockings look great! I am impressed! I am a train wreck when it comes to the sewing machine, so in my eyes, you accomplished a pretty amazing feat in sewing your stockings yourself. Love you "merry christmas" sign too!

  2. I think they look fabulous!!! I made some burlap ones last year for my husband and me. I definitely had to have my mom help me, I am no seamstress either. I really love yours!

  3. They look great! I love the burlap look!

  6. They look great!!
I'm stopping by and following along from the thumping thursday hop! :)

  7. I remember when you were sewing those! I love the red trim. They look great!

  8. I think your stockings are very charming! I love the initials! Just discovered your blog via simple Details and I just became a follower:)

  9. They are the colors you used. They remind me of the ones on Wisteria's website. So great that you made them yourself!

  10. I have had needlepoint stockings for 15 years but want to switch to burlap. I love yours and how you hung the little monogram on them. Time to get out the sewing machine!

You want to leave me a note? Thank you, I LOVE that!
