New Desk

A while ago I mentioned a desk that we got for free at a garage sale. It was nothing fancy, and had a few flaws here and there. You can't really tell in the before picture, but the stain was streaky and fading in parts, and it had little holes all over it. Strange, I know. But it was free so I can't complain. I would say we totally lucked out on this one! I was very excited to get my hands on it, here is the fabulous before picture...

And here are the afters. Sorry for the terrible pictures, I seriously need a new camera. The colors look so off in these. The desk is actually a light gray, not white like it looks. And contrary to what the picture says, the desk and the wall are not the same color. I think its a pretty big improvement from where it began. I am on the hunt right now for some knobs to replace the ones that are currently there, but in the mean time these painted ones will have to do.

I wanted to do a little more than just paint it one solid color so I added this stencil to the sides. I thought about saving some money and making my own stencil, but then I realized what a bad idea that really was, so I bought this one by Martha Stewart. That was way easier and way less time consuming!

Money Saving Monday

Alright my friends, I'm back with round 2 of Money Saving Monday! I hope you are all excited because this week I have coffee tables and ottomans for your viewing pleasure! These aren't quite as inexpensive as the end tables from last week, but they they still quite the bargain. The most expensive item is the mustard button tufted ottoman for $329, but it's a beauty!

I'm in love

I have really been lusting after acrylic coffee tables lately. I know they are nothing new, but I still love them and think I always will. I saw one on Live with Kelly the other day as she was showing her new dressing room, which is fabulous, and it just reaffirmed my love for them. I'm trying to figure out how I can get my hands on one for my ling room. I just think they can look great in any space and go almost any style. Any they are great for small spaces since they don't have much visual weight.

Luggage art

I love when old things are re-purposed and used as something completely different. Lately I've been seeing a lot of suitcases being used as ,well, not suitcases. Weather it's for furniture, accessories, or storage, I think it's a fun use of an old suitcase.

Craigslist Find

I love craigslist. It is a great to look for furniture if you are on a tight budget, and don't mind putting a little work into it. We snagged this little guy last week for $40! It doesn't look like anything special, but it's really sturdy and well made, so I think it was money very well spent. I have big plans for this table that involve lots of sanding, lots of paint, and some stian. Stay tuned!
