Weekend Snapshots

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend. The little guy and I are headed to Texas in a few days  and then a couple days after I get back my in-laws are going to be here for Christmas. So needless to say, I have been scrambling to get things done around the house. I feel like for every item I cross off my list, two more things are added!I got a really good start on two major projects over the weekend.

First, I got my gift wrapping started, and I loved every second of it!

I love wrapping presents! Growing up, my brothers would have me wrap all of their presents for them before I went to bed on Christmas eve, yes, including my own. Part of the fun of giving someone a gift is wrapping it up all cute. Also, having presents under the tree just makes it feel more festive. I didn't get all of my presents wrapped, but I got a good start on it. 

Second, we got the board and batten up!

This is just a sneak peek of the wall. I still need to finish patching some nail holes and painting, but it's almost done and it's looking so good! I'm really excited to show you the finished product! And if I've played my cards right, hopefully you will be seeing a pretty new pendant light hanging over that table after Christmas. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Gold for Christmas

My favorite color, as far as Christmas decor goes, is by far gold. It's timeless and classy and I love it! It also can be used as neutral and mixed with so many other colors. Versatility, I love that! Here are few gold pieces I have my eyes on this Christmas Season.

The Stockings Were Hung

I started stockings for my little family before Christmas last year. I gave it a valiant effort, but let's just say I am a less than perfect seamstress, and by that I mean I'm terrible. Just when I thought I had finished the last one, I realized that I had done some embarrassingly bad measuring and it was about 5 inches longer than the other two. I'm still trying to figure out how that happened. I thought about keeping it that way and using it for myself, after all I made them, so I should get the biggest stocking right?! Instead I decided to do the responsible thing and fix it. But I was so frustrated that I put them away, and of course it took me the entire year to fix it. But a couple days ago I got them back out and got them done! They are far from perfect, but I just say they are full of character :) These are the stockings that I used as inspiration.

Holiday Shopping Time

Good morning, I hope you all had a great holiday! I took a little break last week for some family time and it was lovely. We were in Utah for Thanksgiving with my brother and sister in law and their pretty new house. It was fun, but now back to reality. We got back Sunday night, so yesterday consisted of laundry and unpacking, two things that I hate doing. 

Now that Thanksgiving is over, Christmas time is in full swing. That means lots of baking, Christmas decorating, hot chocolate, and of course, shopping. Sometimes, especially when you have someone who is impossible to shop for, it can be a little overwhelming.
